Etimoloji

From Proto-Finnic *hëëno. Cognates include Karelian hieno and Veps hen, as well as probably Estonian hõõnukene. The semantic shift from “fine, slender, fine-grained” to “fine, refined, elegant” is common across European languages and probably represents foreign influence in Finnish.
