Etimoloji

Possibly a blend of vaisu + laimea or vaieta + laimea (in the latter case perhaps through the verb vaimeta or vaimentaa, in which case vaimea is a secondary back-formation). Alternatively, according to Aikio, from the same root as vaimo, from Proto-Uralic *wajŋe (“breath”) (compare Moksha ваймамс (vajmams) and Erzya оймамс (ojmams, “to rest, calm down, breathe”)).
