köken: First attested in the Worin seokbo (月印釋譜 / 월인석보), 1459, as Middle Korean 틀이〮다〮 (Yale: thùlGí-tá). From 틀— (teul-, “to turn, twist, wrench”) + —이— (-i-, passive suffix) + —다 (-da, verb ending). Such a semantic development is cross-linguistically common; compare the similar relationship of English wring and English wrong.
köken: See Norwegian feil and Danish fejl. Used in Swedish at least since 1527. For the adverb, the now obsolete form felt was the dominant written form until the mid 19th century.
