Etimoloji

From Old Irish comrac, from Proto-Celtic *komɸroankom (“encounter”). Originally pronounced with /ɡ/ at the end, and the Scottish Gaelic cognate còmhrag is still spelled that way. In Connacht and Ulster it is regular for word-final g to be pronounced /k/ after an unstressed vowel, but in Munster the /k/ pronunciation is etymologically irregular.
