Etimoloji

käyttää (“to use”) + -ytyä (reflexive verb). Coined by Finnish physician and philologist Elias Lönnrot in 1874. In Old Literary Finnish, “to behave, conduct oneself” was expressed with the reflexive verb phrase käyttää itseään, which is no longer understood to mean such in modern Finnish.
