Etimoloji
From rész (“part”) + vét (“taking”, from vesz), a calque of German Teilnahme. Created during the Hungarian language reform, which took place in the 18th–19th centuries. The sense részvét (“participation”), a synonym of részvétel, contains the same elements but it was formed independently.
