Etimoloji

Unclear. A dialectal meaning (Southwestern and Satakunta) "narrow passage" may suggest origin as a parallel formation of kuru (“gorge”), with further semantic development being > "route" > "way" > "habit" > "discipline". Cognate with Ingrian kuri and Karelian kuri (both possibly from Finnish).
