According to Ačaṙean, from Armenian ծիլ (cil). For the sense development compare Armenian չոփ գցել (čʻopʻ gcʻel, “to cast a lot”), Azerbaijani çöp atmaq (“to cast a lot”), Armenian ոջիլը ծլիլ (oǰilə clil, “to appear (of lice)”).
