Etimoloji

Learned borrowing from Ancient Greek νάρκη (nárkē, “torpor, numbness; electric ray”). The "mine, landmine" sense is a loose semantic loan from French torpille (“electric ray; torpedo”), whence also τορπίλη (torpíli, “torpedo”).
