Hindi verb set रटना (raṭnā) रटाना (raṭānā) रटवाना (raṭvānā) Turner derives it from a hypothesized Sanskrit *रट्यति (*raṭyati) (compare Sanskrit रटति (ráṭati, “roars, shouts, cries, laments”)), from the root रट् (raṭ). Cognate with Braj रटन (raṭan). Possibly related to टर्राना (ṭarrānā).
