Also attested as Early Modern Korean 힘힘ᄒᆞ다 (himhimhota) in the Eorokhae (語錄解 / 어록해), 1652. Note Middle Korean 힘히미 (himhimi, “boringly”) with the same root.

köken: From Proto-Tai *C̥.bɯəᴬ (“to poison (fish)”). The tone of เบื่อ [bɯəᴮ¹] shows irregularity as a reflex of it. In Southwestern Tai, cognate with Lao ເບື່ອ (bư̄a), Northern Thai ᨷᩮᩬᩥ᩵ᩋ, Khün ᨷᩮᩬᩨ᩵, Lü ᦵᦢᦲᧈ (ḃoe¹), Shan မိူဝ်ႇ (mòe) or ဝိူဝ်ႇ (wòe), and Tai Nüa ᥛᥫ (moe). In Central Tai, cognate with Tày bưa, Nong Zhuang mbowq. In Northern Tai, cognate with Zhuang mbw.
