From մարմին (marmin, “body”) + -ա- (-a-) + վաճառել (vačaṙel, “to sell”). Compare Persian تنفروش (tan-foruš) for a similar formation; compare also English sell one's body, French vendre son corps. Formally identical with Old Armenian մարմնավաճառ (marmnavačaṙ, “meat seller”).
