Etimoloji
Inherited from Old East Slavic тъчьнъ, тъчьнꙑи (tŭčĭnŭ, tŭčĭnyi), from Proto-Slavic *tъčьnъ. By surface analysis, ты́кать, то́чка (týkatʹ, tóčka) + -ный (-nyj). Compare typologically German pünktlich < German Punkt (<< Latin punctus (p.p.p. of pungō), whence also English point, punctual, пунктуа́льный (punktuálʹnyj)).
