headfirst, headlong (precipitately, rashly) · headfirst, headlong (with the head first or down)
köken: From an unattested form *стромиголов(у), related to строми́ти (stromýty, “to insert, stick”) and голова́ (holová, “head”). Possibly ultimately from Old Church Slavonic стрьмоглавь (strĭmoglavĭ, “head down, headfirst, headlong”), whence Russian стремгла́в (stremgláv). Compare also Belarusian стрымгало́ў (strymhalów), Czech střemhlav.
