Etimoloji

From Proto-Indo-Iranian *gudás (also *gudaH f) and cognate with Avestan 𐬔𐬎𐬜𐬀 (guδa). According to Pokorny, this is derived from Proto-Indo-European *gew-d- (“to arch bend”); see also Sanskrit गोल (gola, “ball, sphere, globe; circle, globular jug”), German Kugel (“ball”), and Low German küt (“intestine”). Lubotsky, on the other hand, is skeptical of an Indo-European origin.
