köken: From older قَلْح (qalḥ), from قِلَحْلَاح (qilaḥlāḥ), from Classical Syriac ܩܠܚܠܚܐ (qlaḥlāḥā, “giant fennel”), or the first form is directly from a specialized meaning of the source word this is augmented from, קַלְחָא (qalḥā), קוּלְחָא (qulḥā), קִילְחָא (qilḥā, “stalk, stem”). Compare also لَحْلَاح (laḥlāḥ, “Colchicum spp.”) to which in turn a general meaning of the augmentative form has lead.
