çekim: geçmiş nieste · ortaç geniest · şimdiki niest · ulaç niesend
köken: From Middle High German niesen, from Old High German niosan, from Proto-West Germanic *hneusan, from Proto-Germanic *hneusaną, a variant of *fneusaną. Cognate with Dutch niezen, Yiddish ניסן (nisn), English sneeze.
köken: First attested in the Gugeupganibang eonhae (救急簡易方諺解 / 구급간이방언해), 1489, as Middle Korean ᄌᆞᄎᆡ욤 (Yale: cochoyywom). ᄌᆞᄎᆡ욤 is not the direct ancestor of Modern 재채기 (jaechaegi). Both are derived via a nominalizing suffix, -m for the former and -ki for the latter, from the (unattested) verb *ᄌᆞᄎᆡ다 (*cochoyta, “to sneeze”).
From Middle Dutch niesen, from Old Dutch *niesan, from Proto-West Germanic *hneusan, from Proto-Germanic *hneusaną. Because of the onomatopoeic character of the word, variant forms with different initial consonants also exist(ed), such as fniezen (from Proto-Germanic *fneusaną) and English sneeze.
