Etimoloji
Doublet-formation from the dialectal noun szirony (“colorful leather ribbon”). The name is probably based on the similarity in shape between the colored leather bands and flower petals. Created during the Hungarian language reform, which took place in the 18th–19th centuries. First attested in 1790.
