Tanım
•a snowshoe (usually for a horse, but some types can be used for humans) · synonym of truga (“basket (usually disc-like piece attached near the bottom of a ski pole to prevent it from sinking too deep into the snow)”)
Chaussure en forme de raquette qui permet de se déplacer sur la neige sans s’y enfoncer, utilisée traditionnellement en Amérique du Nord et en Sibérie orientale.
köken: From French raquette, from Middle French rachette, requette, possibly from Arabic رَاحَةْ اليَد (rāḥat al-yad, “palm”). The "t" was likely changed to a "d" to distinguish from raketo (“rocket”).
Inherited from Old Norse [Term?]. Compare Icelandic þrúga f (“human snowshoe”), Old Norse þrjúgr m and Norwegian Nynorsk truge f (“human snowshoe”). The Norwegian word in some areas had original use as the Swedish one, but now means a snowshoe made for humans (not horses). May be related to English trudge.
