Etimoloji
From ծփալ (cpʻal, “to flutter”) + -ի (-i, botanical suffix). Calque of German Flatterulme, from flattern (“to flutter”). Probably coined by the Mekhitarists of Vienna, first appearing in Mēnēvišean's botany and hence copied into dictionaries.
