Tanım
•foolish or naive person; dupe · weirdo, wacko, person with weird behaviour, a little crazy, or megalomanic · persistent pastime or other activity
Etimoloji
Inherited from Byzantine Greek ψώνι (psṓni), ψώνιν (psṓnin), from Hellenistic Koine Greek ὀψώνιον (opsṓnion, “salary; provisions”). The "foolish, naive" sense is attested since the Medieval period, perhaps with sense development along the lines of "provisions" > "one's owned habits and pastimes" > "one overly invested in one's hobbies" > "weirdo, fool".
