Inherited from Byzantine Greek ἀρίφνητος (aríphnētos), from Byzantine Greek ἀναρίφνητος (anaríphnētos), from Ancient Greek ἀναρίθμητος (anaríthmētos, “countless, innumerable, immeasurable”) replacing consonant cluster [θm] with [fn] and the prefix ἀνα- (ana-) with ἀ- (a-).
