Etimoloji
Based on reanalysis of the verbs внять (vnjatʹ) and снять (snjatʹ) as composed of в- (v-) and с- (s-) plus a suffix -нять. Originally -ять (jatʹ) (cf. ять (jatʹ), взять (vzjatʹ), объя́ть (obʺjátʹ), прия́ть (prijátʹ)), from Proto-Slavic *ęti (“to take”) (present tense *jьmǫ). See also иметь (imetʹ, “to possess, have”).
