Etimoloji
Already in the XIˢᵗ century Old East Slavic ситникъ (sitnikŭ) and ситие (sitije), also сѣтникъ (sětnikŭ), from Proto-Slavic *sitъ. Depending on the etymology of that word, the bread-name is either the same word or rather си́то (síto, “sieve”) + -ник (-nik) because of being a bread made of sifted starch.
