Etimoloji

Compound of 駒(こま) (koma, “horse”) + 鳥(とり) (tori, “bird”).. The name is said to come from the fact that the small bird's loud call resembles a horse's neigh. The tori changes to dori as an instance of rendaku (連濁). First attested in 1480.
