Etimoloji

Compound of 鉄板 (teppan, “griddle”, literally “iron plate”) + 焼き (yaki, “sauteing, grilling, cooking”, the 連(れん)用(よう)形(けい) (ren'yōkei, “stem or continuative form”) of the verb 焼(や)く (yaku, “to saute, to grill, to cook”)).
