真名

/ma̠na̠/
JAPONCA → TR

Tanım

•synonym of 漢字 (kanji): Chinese characters used to write the Japanese language · kanji written in the 楷書体 (kaisho-tai, “regular script”) style · real name

Etimoloji

From 真(ま) (ma-, “true”) + 名(な) (na, “name → character”). So called "true" because it is used for the meaning of the characters rather than their phonetic values, as opposed to 仮名 (kana, “provisional/borrowed characters”). Compare 真仮名 (magana, “phonetic kanji”). Compare Korean 진서 (真書, jinseo, “true characters → Chinese characters”).
