From 戯(ざ)れ (zare, the 連(れん)用(よう)形(けい) (ren'yōkei, “stem or continuative form”) of the verb 戯(ざ)れる (zareru, “to frolic, play, sport”)) + 言(こと) (koto, “word”). The koto changes to goto as an instance of rendaku (連濁).
