Etimoloji
五十音 (literally “fifty sounds”) + 仮名 (kana), so called because historically, mainly katakana were arranged in 五十音順 (literally “order of the fifty sounds”), as opposed to hiragana which were historically arranged in 伊呂波順 (“Iroha order”).
