•a Finnish surname from landscape · Any of a number of small places in Finland. · a neighborhood of Helsinki
Etimoloji
From koski (“rapids”) + -la. The surname is partly from a farm name, but was also popularly adopted in the Fennicization of surnames in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The neighborhood in Helsinki is named after the rapids of the river Vantaa located in the area; the Swedish name Forsby is older than the Finnish name, as is common for places in Helsinki.
