Etimoloji
ylis- (“upper”) + taro; see Alastaro. The name originally referred to a parish centered on the church in Isojoki, and was later assigned to a chapelry founded in the eastern parts fo the original parish. The 'upper' refers to the place being located upriver compared to something else.
