Etimoloji
From Lapin (genitive) + järvi (“lake”), after Swedish Lappträsk, the initial part of which is related to Lappi, referring to a historical Sami population in the area. The Swedish name was probably originally translated from an earlier Finnish name *Lapinvesi (originally as the name of the lake, after which the village was then named).
