Etimoloji

From Italian and Maltese Malta, from Arabic, from Latin Melita, from Ancient Greek Μελίτη (Melítē), possibly from Phoenician 𐤌𐤋𐤈 (mlṭ), q.v. The neighbourhood was named after the 1565 Great Siege of Malta, first attested in the form Maltha in 1641.
