Etimoloji
Phono-semantic compound (形聲 /形声, OC *blids): semantic 自 (“nose”) + phonetic 畀 (OC *pids). 自 originally referred to this word, but came to be used to refer to 自 (OC *ɦljids, “self”) instead, so the sense of “nose” has been replaced by this character. Some scholars interpret 鼻 as a combination of a nose (自) and two lungs (畀), however 畀 on oracle bones represents an arrow. From Proto-Sino-Tibetan…
