Etimoloji
A derivation of Proto-Turkic *oŋ (“right side; good, lucky, successful”), perhaps by contamination with Proto-Turkic *öŋ (“front”). The denasalization and lenition of /ŋ/ to /v/ is also observable in verb inflection in many dialects, cf. çay-ın-ı 'tea-𝟤ꜱɢ.ᴘᴏꜱꜱ-ᴀᴄᴄ' giving [çayıŋı~çayıvı].
