•A landscape (heathland) between the pass of Bielefeld and Paderborn
Etimoloji
Borrowed from Middle Low German Sē̆nde. First attested in 804, in 1028 Synatha, Sinethi, and Sinithi. Explained as Proto-Germanic *siniz (“old”) + *-iþō, apparently understood as an ur-leasow. The consonantism is retained in Sende, a settlement now largely part of Schloß Holte-Stukenbrock.
